DIY: Faux Stone Accent Table

Occasionally when I’m walking the aisles of dwelling advancement retailers I get imaginative concepts like these basket plant stands or these table leg candlesticks. Once much more it occurred.

I was in the yard division and noticed some curved resin planters and thought if I put two together they’d sort a wonderful foundation for an accent table. It took plastic bonder and joint compound to unite them, and in this article is the closing consequence:

I purchased all my materials at Lowe’s together with two 15” planter bases with the similar circumference on prime (I utilised these kinds). In addition, here’s what you are going to require to recreate: two 24” wood circles joint compound 2” plastic putty knife plastic bonder wooden glue coarse sanding wedge Krylon river rock spray paint.

To make the best, to start with, glue the two 24” tops with wooden glue and set hefty books on best so they stay put and bond together. Enable to dry about 2 several hours. Coat the wooden circle sides and leading with two skinny levels of joint compound. It’s beneficial to do this on a prop of some form. Sand between coats and following next coat dries sand again to make a largely easy area. I left mine imperfectly smooth on major since I favored the texture.

after sanding:

As soon as dry, mark the underside of the wooden circles with the place of the pedestal in the centre for attaching in the foreseeable future.

To attach the planters together use a bonding glue designed for plastic (see url above). Make it possible for to dry a couple hrs then use extra joint compound to make any seams vanish. This took a handful of applications, sanding involving coats. It can help to spread the joint compound up further than the seam a few of inches to attain a final sleek look.

After the joint compound is sanded and smooth, coat the leading and pedestal with spray paint. I selected River Rock by Valspar to mimic a stone hue.

Use supplemental plastic bonding glue to bond and unite the best to the pedestal. Let to dry, then use for display screen!

I’ll post a online video on Instagram Reels to show the course of action. I like how the desk turned out, the pedestal is absolutely unique! I’m inspired to use my remaining joint compound to generate texture on foreseeable future decorative initiatives.:)
