Tiny home for sale in Colorado was converted from train car

People are starting to embrace the tiny house movement, often looking to downsize — either to rev up their style by jumping on the trend or to save money. Whatever the reason, the movement is hot right now, and tiny homes are popping up all over the real estate market.

Like this 300-square-foot tiny home on the real estate market in Denver for $35,000 that was converted from a caboose train car that was built in the 1930s.

Not gonna lie, it’s pretty cool.

“A perfect tiny home situation to beautify any property or business,” the listing on Tiny House Listings says. “Tiny home AirB&B potential or commercial use. Currently in Commerce City and is ready to be taken anywhere by rail-trucking company.”

The car has a new roof and $10,000 worth of work, the listing mentions, and is simply waiting to be plugged into “any sewer or septic system.”

A similar concept went on the market in Jacksonville, Florida, in 2021. Only, it wasn’t just a single train car but an entire, fully furnished train that was 880 square feet, McClatchy News reported. And yes, the cost was significantly higher at $305,000.

That could have to do with the fact that the train is near TIAA Bank Field, the home of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The average cost for a tiny home is roughly between $30,000 to $60,000, depending on the amenities that come with it, Rocket Mortgage says.
