Fiberglass has long been known in the realm of construction materials for providing insulation. It is now also becoming popular as a newer surface material used to build doors, which can endure severe outdoor elements, climate change and continual use. It does not rot or crack like wood, nor does it dent or corrode like steel. This truly matters when it comes to entrance doors, which are most subject to heat, wind and rain, children or a pet dog coming in and out. Feather River fiberglass entry doors are some of the popular choices for exterior doors among remodelers and homeowners. They are easy to find from exclusive seller Home Depot and backed by the draw of an established company’s award-winning fiberglass entry door system. It is a question of buying the right door for what your house needs.
Arguably the most noticeable thing about Feather River fiberglass entry doors is that they mirror the meticulous workmanship seen in older wood doors. Very telling of this quality is that all Feather River doors are automatically pre-finished, setting them apart from many other door brands. They are given a wood grain surface created to resemble real wood, in a choice of mahogany or oak texture. Door panels are made with high-quality fiberglass and feature skillfully contoured embossments, giving them the elegance that can only come from finely made products. In the same vein, the door caming, hinges and sill sport an uncompromisingly coordinated glass finish. Door stiles built using laminated veneer wood are quality controlled to be precisely aligned, making certain the door is architecturally sound. Molded glass inserts follow a constructionally correct open design, which also holds off air and moisture penetration and minimizes landfill waste.
Conscientious features are everpresent. Each door’s versatile threshold framework has been developed using amalgamated material that resists rotting, and limits air and water infiltration. It also resists insect damage and rotting at the top and base rails. A specialized “sill key” system has been adapted to prevent the jamb from rotting. The use of ball bearing hinges ensures that the door will operate smoothly without suffering from premature wear and sagging. Tempered glass promotes safe usage. A wooden lock block is combined with a jamb plate to provide home security by strengthening the lockset and deadbolt area against forcible entry. Compared to plastic or vinyl, fiberglass is considered to be energy-efficient as it provides three to five times more insulation and lets natural light inside homes.
The Feather River Door Company, based out of the Pacific Northwest, advocates commitment to environmental care. The partnership with Home Depot is a definite plus. The award-winning Feather River fiberglass entry doors and door systems have been carried exclusively by Home Depot stores since 2003, so buyers enjoy the leverage of a trusted store network offering fast, convenient access to these items. The product line, to which wood-constructed decorative interior doors have now been added, includes the Atherton, Carmel, Lakewood, Medina, Preston, Silverdale, Torino and Vandalia series. Buyers can choose from designer doors, door with clear lites and doors with panels.
